Speculative textiles for sustainability

Center for Sustainable Textile Production, VIA University College

We investigate and explore new crafting methods within knitting and weaving and produce alternatives to traditional textiles through textile experimentation and prototyping. Playing with speculative scenarios we mimic properties and functions of not yet existent yarns. We explore knitted prototypes substituting polyester with PLA as well as exploring how to obtain stretchability in textiles without using elastane.
