What could happen if we rethought the architecture and built environment?
Designs for a Cooler Planet 2023
Due to its massive size and time span, system level often remains invisible to us. Complex network of indirect causalities can be difficult to grasp.
If we could see better, would we make different decisions?
New research and technology continuously expand our understanding and knowledge, helping us to perceive things that were previously hidden: some in plain sight or behind the layers of time, others only emerging.
It is crucial to make visible the system-level consequences of our actions, but also the solutions that aim for more than tackling a single challenge. Solutions that aim for shifting entire paradigms.
Paradigm shift
noun
an important change that happens when the usual way of thinking about or doing something is replaced by a new and different way
Designs for a Cooler Planet makes visible several system-level paradigm shifts.
Changing things requires not only becoming aware of the present challenges, their roots and layers, but also the ability to envision what could be and the future we are shaping. Nerve to do something new and different.
The systems level change requires determined collaboration across different organisations and disciplines. However, the impact of even seemingly small things and decisions can also be far-reaching, often beyond our comprehension.
